Though India has the world's second-largest internet population, only 30% of users are women. A partnership with Tata Trusts, Internet Saathi is a digital literacy program that helps bridge the skills gap, training “Saathis” so they can train others, and ultimately get more women online.

Discovering the internet’s benefits

A key barrier to getting women online in India is the lack of awareness about the benefits of the internet. Among those surveyed who do not use the internet, 31% were “not interested in anything that is on the internet.” However, women show greater optimism and autonomy when they use the internet.
